Aurora FC’s OPDL Trial Process is designed to identify players with the potential to succeed within Ontario’s highest standards-based youth development environment. Our goal is to provide every player with a fair opportunity to be evaluated while ensuring they are placed in the environment that best supports their long-term development.
Players will be evaluated on their technical ability, tactical understanding, physical qualities, psychological attributes, coachability, attitude, and overall potential.
U13 OPDL Program (2014 Born Players)
Objective
Identify and evaluate incoming players born in 2014 who are currently outside of OPDL environments and interested in joining Aurora FC’s U13 Player Pathway.
Evaluation Period
August 26, 2026 – September 30, 2026
Program Model
The U13 Program operates as an open roster player pool, similar to our U12 model. We encourage coaches to extend offers to a minimum of 20 current Aurora FC players prior to opening the process to external players. This recognizes player commitment and loyalty while maintaining opportunities for new players to enter the pathway.
During the evaluation period, players will train and develop together within the U13 player pool. Coaches will continuously assess players and determine the most appropriate development environment.
Players may participate within either the:
- OPDL Pathway
- IMODEL Pathway
Final roster decisions will be based on ongoing player development, performance, commitment, and overall suitability for the environment.
Registration
All players interested in attending trials must pre-register through Aurora FC.
Once registered, players will receive all trial information directly from the coaching staff.

U14–U17 OPDL Trial Process (2013-2010)
The U14–U17 OPDL trial process follows the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) player identification framework and consists of three evaluation phases designed to identify players with the potential to succeed within the OPDL environment.
Aurora FC will utilize a phased evaluation process to ensure players are assessed in the most appropriate environment while providing multiple opportunities for identification throughout the season.
Registration
All players interested in attending trials must pre-register through Aurora FC.
As part of the registration process, players are encouraged to submit a highlight video. This allows our coaching staff to begin the identification process prior to players attending in-person evaluations.
Once registered, players will receive all trial information directly from the coaching staff.
Initial Player Identification
Following registration, coaching staff will review player information and highlight videos.
Players identified as potential OPDL candidates may be invited directly into the OPDL evaluation environment.
Players not initially identified for direct OPDL evaluation will begin the process within the IMODEL environment, where they will continue to be assessed and may progress into the OPDL evaluation phase based on their performance.
This approach ensures all players are evaluated while maintaining a high-quality training and assessment environment.
