OPDL Fees + Financial Assistance

The Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) requires a significant commitment of both time and financial investment. The league raises the standard of player development through a longer season, elite coaching, mandatory sport science support, and a high-performance training environment.

These fees are consistent with other high-performance sports programs across Ontario. Aurora FC also pays an annual league fee that supports soccer operations including field costs, referees, event staff, medical support, and OPDL technical staff.

Aurora FC has developed a clear OPDL budget to help families understand exactly what is included in their annual program fees.

Included in Fees

Coaching & Technical Staff

National B licensed head coach, National C assistant coaches, goalkeeper coach, strength and conditioning staff, and sports medicine support.

League & Registration Costs

OPDL league fees, licence fees, and Ontario Soccer player registration fees.

Specialist Support

Additional specialist coaching, sport performance services, physiotherapy, and fitness support.

Facilities & Equipment

Indoor and outdoor training field rentals, practice equipment, balls, cones, and other session materials.

Note: Team apparel is not included in the fee and must be purchased directly from the uniform supplier.

2026 OPDL Athlete Scholarship Program

The OPDL Athlete Scholarship Program is available to eligible full-time players registered with an OPDL License Holder for the current year. The program is intended to provide concentrated financial support to players who demonstrate significant playing potential.

In 2026, grants will range from $500–$1,500 for eligible full-time OPDL players.

Applications must be submitted through Aurora FC for consideration. Applications sent directly to Ontario Soccer by parents or guardians will not be reviewed.

If the application is successful, the player may receive an Ontario Soccer grant that covers a portion of the OPDL league fee component of the player’s club fee.

Application Requirements

Players interested in applying for the OPDL Athlete Scholarship Program are required to provide the following information and documentation:

Parent / Guardian Information
Financial Information including a copy of the most current Notice of Assessment for the player’s parent(s) / guardian(s)
Community Leadership Information including copies of any reference letters

Please provide all required information and supporting documents as soon as possible so Aurora FC can process the application and submit it to Ontario Soccer on time.

Once completed, the information may be emailed directly to Aurora FC’s Technical Director and / or Executive Director.

Assessment Criteria

Financial Assessment

Applicants must meet the financial criteria outlined in the 2026 OPDL Athlete Scholarship Program Manual and provide the most recent Notice of Assessment for their parent(s) / guardian(s).

Technical Assessment

Once validated, the application will be completed by Aurora FC’s Technical Director to provide Ontario Soccer with the required technical player assessment.

Player Commitment & Community Leadership

Applicants are also assessed on commitment to community service, volunteerism, and the level of commitment shown by the player and family within the Aurora FC / OPDL environment.
