Aurora FC OPDL FAQs
What is OPDL?
The Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) is part of the Canada Soccer Pathway and represents the highest level of youth soccer in Ontario beginning at the U13 age group. Players compete in an environment with the top players, coaches, and match officials in the province.
OPDL also serves as a platform for identification into Provincial Teams, National Youth Programs, and Professional Club Academies. Players performing at the OPDL level may also be selected to train with the Regional Talent Centre (RTC), which can lead to invitations to National Team camps.
Why Choose Aurora FC OPDL?
Club Integrity
Aurora FC takes great pride in holding an OPDL license and ensuring that our program consistently meets and exceeds the standards set by Ontario Soccer. Each team is supported by a dedicated Head Coach and Assistant Coach appointed by the club.
Our trainers and sport performance staff are highly respected in the community and bring extensive experience developing athletes to reach the next level. Teams also benefit from training at some of the best facilities available in Aurora.
Player Success
Success at Aurora FC is measured by player development rather than simply wins and losses. Our players have been identified for National Youth Team camps, Professional Club Academies, Provincial squads, and Provincial Screening programs.
In 2018 the club introduced an Adult High Performance Program including U21 and League1 Ontario teams. The program featured over 25 former OPDL players and 13 OYSL players who developed within Aurora FC.
Player Testimonials
Parm Singh
Aurora FC League1 Player
During the four years I spent with Aurora FC I played OPDL, U21 Provincial Elite, and League1. The environment at every level of the club is extremely professional and focused on preparation and development.
Training sessions are intense and structured, often taking place three to five times per week. The coaches prepare players well so we are ready to perform on match day.
When I first joined the club at age 13 I was not one of the strongest players, but the coaching and development environment helped me grow into a much better player and person both on and off the field.
Meaghan Phillips
Aurora FC League1 Player & Quinnipiac University
Aurora FC has been my home club for the past 13 years. Through the OPDL program I had the opportunity to work with excellent coaches and compete in environments where university, provincial, and national team scouts were present.
As a goalkeeper I was constantly challenged by the best players in the province, which helped me develop my game at a high level.
With the support of the Aurora FC coaching staff I committed to Quinnipiac University on a soccer scholarship, was selected for Team Ontario in 2017, and have been given many opportunities to continue playing soccer at a high level.
